THE WINE COLLECTION

It is a singular combination of historical evidence and great adaptability that led us plant those indigenous varieties thriving in Cyclades Islands since antiquity. These local ‘treasures’ manage to withstand the extreme, sometimes hostile weather conditions, the poor soils and drought of Tinos Island, crafting excellent wines where our light human touch is in great harmony with pure nature. Our flagship grapes are Assyrtiko, the ‘king’ of Aegean Sea, a noble variety of crystal-clear character, purity and mineral notes reminiscent of wet stones and iodine.

Assyrtiko produces world-class wines with amazing levels of freshness, natural strength and prolong ageing potential, placing the grape variety in par with the greatest Rieslings and Burgundies. And then it is Mavrotragano, a red grape rare as a unicorn and precious as a ‘diamond’. Demanding and challenging in the vineyard, it finds its perfect home in our vineyards producing wines of power and elegance.
A prelude of black fruits, lavender and herbs, supplemented by firm tannins and a mineral-rich palate. A terroir-champion with unlimited ageing potential.

Composition/Winemaking: 100% Assyrtiko from the emblematic Clos Stegasta vineyard. Spontaneous fermentation in a mixture of stainless-steel tanks, wooden vats and oak barrels. Bottled after seven months maturation on its lees. Tasting notes: A wine of high energy and power that sets the bar for the variety. The nose shows a striking combination of citrus and honeysuckle along crushed rocks nuances. The palate is vibrant and focused ringing with flavor and movement. It is overlaid with purity and saline minerality and finishes impressively long.

Composition/Winemaking: 100% Assyrtiko from a special parcel within the emblematic Clos Stegasta vineyard. Spontaneous fermentation in a mixture of oak casks and amphora. Bottled after several months’ maturation on the lees. Tasting notes: The ultimate expression of Assyrtiko produced only in top vintages and in limited bottles. The nose is showing intense and vivid lime zest and apple fruit along spice and a kiss of oak. Fat, pure and fresh on the palate with a fine tannic skeleton. A singular wine of power and grace for prolonged aging.

Composition/Winemaking: 100% Mavrotragano from the magnificent Clos Stegasta vineyard. Fermentation with whole berries and whole bunches in big oak casks with indigenous yeasts isolated from our vineyards. The wine matures for about a year in 500lts oak barrels, 20% of which are new.

Tasting Notes: A seductive wine with a plethora of aromas. Oregano and violets are wrapped around a core of dark cherries, green pepper and espresso roast. The palate sets the ground along with the velvety tannins cutting through a complex and complete finish. A spherical wine seamlessly textured with no hard edges in sight. Delicious early on, better with age.

Composition/Winemaking: 100% Mavrotragano from the terraces of Rassonas vineyard. Fermentation with whole berries and whole bunches in big oak casks with indigenous yeasts isolated from our vineyards. The wine matures for approximately 18 months in 500lts oak barrels.

Tasting notes: Oriental spices, with blackberry and dark chocolate on the nose. The palate is vertical and structured with firm tannins offering a rich, vibrant and complex mouth feel that leads to a long-lasting salty finish. A rare wine of greatness on par with the best of the world. Demands both aging and decanting.

RED WINE 100% Mavrotragano

Composition/Winemaking: 100% Mavrotragano sourced from our distinct terroirs of Clos Stegasta and Agios Dimitrios. Partly whole bunch fermentation in open top wooden casks at 25-28°C with several punching downs. Malolactic fermentation takes place in 500lts French oak barrels, followed by a total maturation of two years.

Tasting notes: Mavro offers an exotic perfume of ripe black cherries and raspberries along notes of cocoa. The palate is firm but polished with fine grained tannins around a core of black fruits and hints of smoke as a result of perfectly integrated oak. Beautifully layered and complex with great levels of drinking pleasure, even when young.

AVGOUSTIATIS

AVGOUSTIATIS

RED WINE 100% Avgoustiatis

Composition/Winemaking: 100% Avgoustiatis from Agios Dimitrios vineyard, fermented with the presence of indigenous yeasts isolated from our vineyards. Fruit is macerated for 12 days with gentle cap management to extract the purest aromatics. Once fermentation is complete, the wine spends six months in clay amphorae.

Tasting notes: Abundant red fruit aromas - like smelling a garden of cherries and fresh plums - lead towards a silky and soft palate with extra layers of freshness and hints of butterscotch and strawberry jam. Persistent, clean and fruit forward finish, this is a deliciously vibrant wine, reminiscent of a top-notch Beaujolais cru.

ROSE WINE 80% Avgoustiatis - 20% Mavrotragano

Composition/Winemaking: A blend of 80% Avgoustiatis and 20% Mavrotragano, from the Sparveri and Agios Dimitrios vineyards at an altitude of 400m above sea level. Direct pressing is followed by alcoholic fermentation using isolated indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine is bottled after a short period on its fine lees.

Tasting notes: Pale pink color, with an elegant nose of strawberry and raspberry fruit. Lovely lifted acidity and hints of saltiness on the palate, this is a bright, vinous and structured rosé with long lasting finish. Delicious and gastronomic combining both savoury and fruity elements this is a wine that fills the mouth with fragrance.

T-OINOS MALAGOUSIA

WHITE WINE 100% Malagousia

Composition/Winemaking: A small part of our precious Clos Stegasta vineyard is dedicated to the lovely Malagousia grape. Grapes are gently pressed before the onset of alcoholic fermentation in clay amphorae with the aid of isolated yeasts from our vineyard at low temperatures. The wine spends five months on its fine lees.

Tasting notes: This is a pure expression of the granitic terroir of our Clos-Stegasta vineyard, salty and mineral with lemon and citrus notes, along herbal nuances. Tight and focused on the palate, it delivers an excellent balance between the fresh acidity and the creamy texture leading towards a salty, persistent, finish. Very distinctive, vibrant and terroir-driven.
